EcoFocus is a small festival that emphasizes environmental outreach and the potential of your film to inspire awareness and action among festival participants. For that reason, we select fewer films than the larger film festivals, but we work to maximize the impact of your film. EcoFocus is open to any genre or any style of film, and we welcome a variety of environmental subjects - climate, water, energy, agriculture/food systems, environmental restoration, green development and urban planning, biodiversity, advocacy, human impacts, lifestyle change, policy, natural resource scarcity, natural history, etc. We seek films that promote awareness, discussion, and inspiration among our audience members.
We are accepting film submissions in three categories: Environmental Features (50+ minutes), Short Environmental Films (20 minutes or less), and Family Programming (any length). Films may be submitted to more than one category. Films between 20-50 minutes in length can also be submitted in the Features category. Please note that films of this length are very difficult to program, but we will consider them. EcoFocus is a non-competitive film festival, although we generate Audience Awards during the festival.
Submission Fees: There are no submission fees for the 2014 festival.
Submission Deadline: All films for the 2013 festival must be received by November 1, 2013.
Notification of Acceptance: Filmmakers/Distributors will begin to be notified in January 2014. All notifications will be complete by February 1, 2014.

Other Submission Information:
EcoFocus is unable to return screeners. Films must be in NTSC DVD format only. Non-English entries must be submitted with English subtitles. Please note that we cannot return screeners. All entries selected into our 2012 festival grant EcoFocus the right to keep the DVD version for EcoFocus library and other educational purposes. Filmmakers for accepted films must supply 1-2 high resolution promo stills and film synopses of various lengths for festival publicity. We will notify you by email with a specific promotional information request if your film is selected. If accepted, the EXHIBITION format will be DVCAM, MINIDV, DVD, BluRay or DigiBeta/BetaSP. We cannot show BluRay in all venues. In some cases, we may ask you for a QuickTime (.MOV) file. Your NTSC DVD will be used for backup. Filmmakers are responsible for shipping costs of the exhibition media to the festival. EcoFocus will cover the return costs.
